App Store 2nd Anniversary Giveaway!

The App Store turned two years old on July 10th, 2010, and we thought it would be nice for our readers to celebrate with a giveaway.  Before, we’ve done promo code giveaways and such, but this time, the prizes and stakes are high.

We’ll be offering 2 $25 iTunes giftcards to one follower on Facebook and one follower on Twitter.  If you have followed/liked both, then you will have a double chance to win one of those giftcards.  Here’s a basic rundown of the rules and instructions:

  1. Promotion is only available to US residents.
  2. Contest will end August 9th, 2010.
  3. People who create multiple accounts to increase chances will be disqualified.
  4. Please don’t spam.

  1. Like our Facebook page.
  2. Follow us on Twitter.
  3. If you’re trying to win through Twitter please tweet anything with the hashtag #nodpadcontest.  Also be sure to include a link to this post.
  4. Winners will be chosen at random, and you can tweet as many times as you like (please note that there is only one entry per user).

Don’t have a Facebook or Twitter?  Don’t worry, you can also post a comment on the forums post to enter.

Happy Memorial Day from NoDPad!

Hey folks, just a friendly Happy Memorial Day from NoDPad.  I know at least someone who’s reading this is somehow someway connected to someone that served for their country, whether it be firefighting, police, or military.  Just be sure to thank them, as we here at NoDPad are very appreciative of them.  Again, thank you for keeping our country safe!  We would definitely be somewhere horrible if it weren’t for you.

With that said, we say it again: Thank You!

‘Caligo Chaser’ Promo Code Giveaway!

We have two promo codes to give away for Com2us’s new game Caligo Chaser.  We recently reviewed the title, and although it was quite solid, it was a bit too old for the App Store standards of today.  Still, it’s a title worth checking out and definitely worth trying to nab for free.

Here’s the rules:

  1. Post in the forums thread titled “Caligo Chaser Promo Code Giveaway”.
  2. You must post on the thread to enter the contest.
  3. Random poster will be chosen; there are a total of 2 codes to give out.

Winners will be chosen once atleast 10 people have entered, or until Friday, March 26th, 2010.

Welcome… Our New Staff Members!

UPDATE: We’ve got one more.

John – Reviewer

John’s earliest gaming memories date back to when he was just three years old, sitting in front of his father’s Amstrad CPC, already learning the ins and outs of home computing: “CAT” to view the disk contents, “RUN”DIZZY” to boot the game. Unfortunately, Fantasy World Dizzy wasn’t terribly child-friendly, but that didn’t matter; the seeds of gaming had already been sown. Over the years, computer gaming grew and matured… and so did John, picking up as many game consoles as he could along the way. Current day: John divides most of his attention between the Xbox360, Playstation 3, and naturally, his iPod Touch. A supporter of all games old and new, John would like to think that perhaps having a little knowledge of how gaming has evolved somehow enhances the overall experience.

We here at NoDPad are very passionate about iPhone gaming, and we want to bring you all the latest news and reviews.  Of course, the amount of news and reviews is growing due to the fact that the App Store is growing, so we’ve more than doubled our staff to include 7 new members.  Here’s a list of who they are and what they do:

Albert – Reviews Writer, Videos Contributor

Albert is always up for new games and ideas. He first received his iPod Touch as a gift and he hasn’t stopped using it since. After joining the massively popular forum, Touch Arcade, he realized that the iPhone was far more capable of things than the DS and PSP. He was truly stunned at the console quality games that appeared on the App Store. Soon after that, he started to buy many games and apps that he totally forgot about his gaming computer. He also owns a PS2, DS, and a PSP. Albert would like to see the iPod/iPhone evolve into a massive gaming device.

Evan – Reviews Writer, Videos Contributor

Evan has been a gamer since he first played Pokemon on a Gameboy Color back in 1996. He owns a Gameboy Advance, PS2, Gamecube, and an XBOX, not having taken the plunge on any of the newest consoles. In early 2008 he was introduced to the 1G iPod Touch, and since the introduction of the App Store has regularly bought and played all types of games. Evan is a viola performance major at one of the top universities in the US.

Hope – News, Reviews Writer

Hooked on video games since she first started playing Pong back in the day, Hope has played games on just about every console since. Portable gaming was perfect for her lifestyle however, as she played many games waiting in parking lots for her kids. Hope loves the innovation that the iDevices allow and loves watching the appstore grow by the moment. With the iDevice, she has a wealth of choices at her fingertips and enjoys just about every genre of game. Excited to no longer have to blow out the dust in her cartridges and not worry about burning out the pixels of the old TV; she enjoys carrying a huge library of games in her pocket.

Jai – Moderator, Reviews Writer

Unsurpassed gamer… technological guru… iPhone legend… these are the traits that define Jai. Or so he tells himself! Since the advent of the iPhone and especially the release of the Appstore, you would be hard-pressed to find Jai without iPhone in hand. When he’s not gaming on his touch screen, he splits his time between playing PS3, basketball, golf, and apologizing to his girlfriend for playing too many video games. Jai lives in beautiful California and works as a Project Manager for an industry leading company in the Silicon Valley.

Travis – News, Reviews Writer

A gamer since he was in diapers, Travis started out playing the Mattel Intellivision with his older brother. While his brother only played games up until the Sega Genesis era, giving up his “child’s toy,” Travis remained a die hard video gamer. Playing every major console since the NES, Travis found his way to the iPhone gaming world last summer and has dedicated more and more of his time to playing on the device. He picks up a new game or two every day and now has over 500 of them. Travis considers himself a fanboy of all three current major consoles, advocating, “All it takes is one great game to justify a hardware purchase”.

Tyler – Forums Lead

One of the youngest staff members, Ty sings the praises of Aqua Globs at any given moment. Ty loves all genres of iDevice gaming, though some more than others. The iDevice not only provides Ty with an entire life’s worth of entertainment in a pocket, it also provides a cloak and sanctuary from the world. When not spending time gaming, Ty likes to code, play hockey, dance, and overuse names as pronouns.

Please welcome them to our site, and expect more writing pieces from us to you!
