N.O.V.A 2 storyline, artwork revealed

A huge, ‘heavy demon’ with weapons for arms and an animal-and-machine hybrid called ‘cybertooth’ will both make their presence felt when the hugely anticipated iDevice shooter N.O.V.A 2 is released. The first N.O.V.A surprised gamers by showing that a futuristic-FPS game can be done on the iDevices with a variety of control inputs and still be enjoyable. The game was praised for its graphics and settings, as it was often compared to Halo — and its no small feat to be compared to such juggernauts.

A couple of plot intrigues have been revealed by Gameloft in the sequel and should not disappoint fans of the genre.

“Six years have passed since the events depicted in N.O.V.A. Humanity is now thrown into a bloody civil war fought between the central government of the Terran Orbitals and the self-appointed Human-Alien alliance, a new organization with mysterious origin and agenda.”

According to Gameloft, the first title’s hero, Kal Wardin, now lives on a desert planet of Scorpius among some villagers where the Terran Orbitals are the central governing power. Their administration over various colonies is run by enormous satellites orbiting an uninhabitable earth. N.O.V.A, The Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, is the military arm of the Terran Orbitals.

A human-alien alliance exists between the humans and a newly discovered race of aliens and politicians from the colonies. These ‘Volterite’ aliens promise an ideal future where alien technology will ease all the problems humanity is facing. These aliens somehow posess mind control and telekinetic abilities and seem a bit too well adapted for war to be the peaceful allies they are portrayed to be.
