My name is Scott Danger Olstad and I’m excited to be joining the No DPad crew! My middle name is isn’t actually Danger yet, but it will be. It’s just… really hard to change. Apparently I have to drive back to my home state, and since they won’t even let me back into Nebraska anymore, it is taking me longer to achieve than I had originally anticipated. But perception is reality, so if we could all just pretend my middle name is Danger, then we can all be that much closer to being friends!
I barely graduated from Northwestern University last Spring with a double major in Journalism and Good Times and am excited to finally devote myself to something besides partying all the time. Like many of you, I’ve played video games my entire life and am starting to get bored by them. Don’t get me wrong—shooting aliens and scoring touchdowns in HD is still a blast—but the skyrocketing price of game development has severely limited my favorite aspect of game design: originality. Thankfully, the iPhone and iPod Touch have created an outlet for creative, risky, truly original ideas again. Oh, and the games are cheap? Did I already mention I just graduated college? Cheap is good.
I try to look beyond merely the technical aspects of a game in my reviews. I believe games are more than just a conglomeration of graphics, presentation and controls. Read my upcoming reviews and I think you’ll see what I mean. I’m thrilled to be working with such a talented group of writers and producing content for a terrific community. Let’s party!
