The slew of game releases yesterday was unbearable, and I have never seen so many high-profile games being released all at once like that. Among the list are games that we have previewed and reported of coming to the iPhone, and some just look plain awesome.
Aera: This 2.5D dogfighting simulator was reported to be coming to the iPhone around a month or two ago and was submitted around 2 weeks ago. While I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, the graphics and design definitely look awesome.
Against the Fire!: Meridian’s firefighter survival shooter was reported to be coming not too long ago, maybe even less than a week ago. I’ve played for some time now, and I can safely say that this game has a lot more universal appeal than Alive-4-ever. Alive-4-ever fans will also find the gameplay engaging and very similar to A4e, and it’s definitely a great alternative to the horror shooter.
Super Shock Football: We previewed this game back in August and found it to be very nicely designed. It successfully recreates the vibrating football experience, and if you remember what vibrating football was like, Super Shock Football does a great job recreating the experience.
Castle Warriors: Castle Warriors is basically Galcon in 3D. While not a really original idea, it definitely features some of the best graphics on the iPhone. The 3D aspect may also add some twists and turns compared to Galcon, but I have yet to play it and find out.
Robocalypse: Mobile Mayhem: I think Robocalypse has to be one of the more noteworthy games that was released last night, and my time with this game has been phenomenal. The $4.99 asking price is very low for what you get: a complete RTS experience along with local and global (online) multiplayer. We should have a review for this game soon.
Above and Beyond: Air Combat: Last but not least, the game we have all been waiting for. Above and Beyond Air Combat was a title we previewed a while ago and submitted around 1-2 weeks ago. I found the controls to be very well done, and graphics were very nice compared to other graphically-enhanced games on the App Store. The time and effort put into this game is very noticeable, and I don’t think you’ll think twice before buying this game.
